Design Process

1. Discovery:

In this initial phase, we get to know you, your business, and your unique requirements. We engage in a comprehensive discussion, covering aspects such as the number of pages, editability, e-commerce capabilities, and any specific functionalities you desire. We also delve into your desired outcomes, whether it's increased enquiries, higher-quality leads, boosted sales, or enhanced website traffic. Based on this understanding, we produce a tailored proposal.

2. Design:

With a clear brief in hand, we start the design journey for your new website. We develop one to three design concepts, keeping you closely involved in the process to ensure we align with your vision. Your feedback is crucial as we strive to create a design that not only meets but exceeds your requirements. Once you're satisfied with the website's design, we establish a build timeline. Any final adjustments are addressed before we proceed to the construction phase.

3. Build:

With the design finalised, we move to the building stage. We use a blend of proven techniques and cutting-edge technology, ensuring compatibility across various browsers. The duration of the build phase typically ranges from 2 to 6 weeks, contingent upon project complexity, with this timeline outlined in your proposal. Rigorous testing is conducted to verify that the website functions seamlessly. Once we're confident in its performance, we coordinate the launch date.

4. Launch:

Upon your approval and the green light to proceed, we launch your website on the internet. Simultaneously, we submit your website to search engines and address any training needs.

5. Support:

Post-launch, our commitment doesn't waver. We stand by your side, offering ongoing support and guidance for your website. If your website is hosted with us, you can relax with confidence, knowing that it's in capable hands, meticulously cared for by our dedicated team.

At this stage we kickstart Digital Marketing initiatives, including PPC (Pay-Per-Click) or SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) campaigns, if you've chosen these services.

Want some additional features or functions on the website? No problem, we can help with this, your website's evolution is our priority.

FAQ's

+ What is the cost of website design?
Funny you should ask, it's the question we get asked the most. Rather than give the stock answer of "it depends on what you want and how complex it is". We have produced a full price guide section so you can understand the investment in more detail. Click here to view our Price Guide.
+ Do I need a professional web designer, or can I use website builders?
Some website builders are user-friendly and suitable for simple sites, some are quite complicated and don't help. Generally, self-built website (using a builder) will get you on the internet, however, a professional website designer understands user behaviour and can leverage this to ensure your business outperforms other similar businesses in your area / industry. In our view professional designers are essential for custom, high-quality, and unique web projects.
+ Why is website design important?
A well-designed website is crucial for creating a positive user experience, attracting, and retaining visitors, and achieving your website's goals, whether they're informational, promotional, or e-commerce related.
+ What is the difference between web design and web development?
Web design deals with the visual and user interface aspects of a website, while web development involves coding and programming to make the design functional. We call it website design and cover both areas, but it varies from agency to agency.
+ How long does it take to design a website?
The time required to design a website varies based on its complexity, features, and the designer's experience. As a rough guide we quote somewhere between 2 to 6 weeks depending on the complexity of the project, but this can change depending on the requirements.
+ What is SEO, and how does it relate to web design?
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) involves optimising a website's content and structure to improve its visibility on search engines like Google. Effective web design practices can positively impact SEO by ensuring a search engine-friendly site.
+ How can I measure the success of my website design?
You can measure success through website statistics including metrics like traffic, conversion rates, bounce rates, and user feedback. Analysing these data points will help you make improvements to your design. We will provide you with access to Google Analytics or a report depending on your desired involvement.
+ I have an existing website can you take over the management of it?
Yes, we'd be happy to take over the management of your existing website. This can include the hosting, updates and other tasks associated with your website. Please get in touch if you have a website, you'd like us to take over.

Price Guide

This is the most frequently asked question, and we've endeavoured to provide a comprehensive response within this guide. However, it's important to note that each client is unique. Certain industries demand more effort to ensure the website's success, while others require less. One website may feature minimal information, while another may encompass a vast amount of data, images, text, and documents. This is all before delving into complex features, functions, editability, e-commerce, or web applications, all of which impact the required investment.

PLEASE NOTE:
The prices below are featured as a guide and the final figures you receive could be different depending on your specific requirements.

Small Brochure-Based Website (approximately 3 to 10 pages)

For a small brochure website, the cost typically ranges from £480, contingent upon your specific requirements. To ascertain the precise amount needed, we would need a thorough understanding of your needs.

Brochure-Based Website (approximately 10 to 30 pages)

For a medium brochure website, the costs starts around £1800, but it can vary based on your specific needs. To determine the exact investment required, we'd need a detailed understanding of your requirements.

Large Brochure-Based Website (30 pages+)

For a large brochure website, the minimum investment is around £2800, with costs increasing based on content complexity. If the content is straightforward and repetitive, the cost may be lower, but intricate content can drive up the price. As always, we require a comprehensive understanding of your requirements to provide an accurate quote.

Editable Website (Editable Content Only)

Hybrid editability allows site owners to edit part of the website while the rest of the website is static. This can sometimes be a more economical approach to editability with a lower starting cost of around £580.

The cost of an editable website can vary based on your final requirements. Typically, we use a custom-made Content Management System (CMS) for optimal staff training, usability, and stability. The minimum investment for such a website is around £1800, but the exact amount would depend on your specific needs.

Editable Website (Editable Layouts, Content, and Add/Remove Pages)

For an editable website that allows layout changes, page additions, or removals, the cost can vary significantly depending on the system's functionality. There are two main approaches: Predefined Templates or Fluid Design. After a discussion, we can determine the best option for your business or organisation. The choice of CMS (Pre-built or Custom-made) also affects the investment.

For a fully editable website you can anticipate a minimum investment of around £2800, but we'd need to fully understand your requirements to provide an accurate quote.

E-Commerce Website (Editable Websites Include CMS/Editability as Standard)

The cost of an e-commerce website depends on the platform used, product options, and other variables. E-commerce websites can range from simple to highly complex, impacting the required investment. All our e-commerce websites come with a CMS for product and content management. The minimum investment for an e-commerce website is around £2800, but precise pricing necessitates a comprehensive understanding of your needs.

Custom Website Application

Our custom web applications are typically complex and designed to address specific challenges, streamline business functions, or serve your customers. These projects typically involve a substantial initial time investment to determine requirements and implementation. In our experience, the minimum investment for custom web applications starts at around £9,800. As with all projects, the level of complexity will determine the investment requirement. We would need a thorough understanding of your requirements to provide an accurate quote.

Additional Expenses to Consider When Budgeting for a Website

Do you require copywriting services?
Do you need stock images? (We can include a budget for stock images in most design projects, if required.)
Do you require product or informational photography?
Do you need video content?

These additional elements can increase the overall cost of your project.

Fixed Ongoing Costs

All websites incur ongoing expenses that should be factored into your budget:

Domain Name Renewal (usually renewed annually but can be extended for longer periods): A domain name is a vital part of your website, as it's how customers access it (e.g., www.pocketm.co.uk). While not a significant investment, it's important to be aware that the cost typically ranges from £10 to £20 per year, depending on the domain suffix (.co.uk/.com) and registrar used.

Website & Email Hosting (renewed annually): This is the home of your website and often includes email services. The quality of the host can impact website loading speed, making it a critical component. Hosting costs vary based on the level of service you require. Our hosting packages start at £68.50 per year (£5.70 per month).
